Prominent African philanthropists and business leaders have launched the African Philanthropy Forum, a new peer-learning philanthropy and social investing forum.

Global Philanthropy Forum plans to incubate this new African forum for 3 years before it becomes independently run by African social change makers from East, West and Southern Africa with a hopeful eye to a better future in their communities and across Africa.  This effort should further amplify the good work of other associations such as the African Grantmakers Network and East Africa Association of Grantmakers.

Many Africans I’ve met in these networks are asking, “What would the future of a truly African philanthropy look like?”

We are all excited to see how the process of answering this important question improves the lives of thousands and possibly changes philanthropic practices around the world.

All eyes on you, Africa.
